Not so long ago, phones looked like this one on the left, and mobile phones have only fairly recently become practical and commonly owned pieces of equipment. The image below this is one of the first mobile phones and it is evidently a little cumbersome.
I really like the fact that even in my own life time phones have moved on from 'primitive' novelties to something that the majority of people can't live without. They have become really personal items, holding pretty much everything about peoples lives.
